This was my first large creation in metal. It was concieved to be placed at the center of a courtyard where the students gather and cross. Located at the Blaise Pascal High School in Chateauroux (Indre) ,it was fabricated by a specialist in metalworking.
In 1974 we moved to the Loire valley and settled in Amboise ; there I resumed painting landscapes and made small bronze sculptures. In 1978 I was commissioned by the city of Tours to create a low-relief sculpture ( 8 ft. x 8ft.) for their new stadium. After searching a permanent place for my studio and home, we were attracted to another valley...................and in 1979 I found and renovated a stone barn near the Creuse river; it's 2 km. from the village of Eguzon and the nearby region is very rich with a history dating back a million years !
It was perhaps my encounter with Alexander Calder in 1974 which eventually led me to create mobile sculptures. This is one of a series made of "cathedral" glass forms which are threaded onto aluminium rods. The mobile arms at the center of the structure move at the slightest touch or air current.

This mobile sculpture is the marraige of 4 materials: wood, glass, aluminium and iron. There are two mobile arms between the vertical columns. It can also be considered as a model for larger scale works.
8. «Crossroad» 20 inches, 2007
Also located on High School grounds , "Galaxie" overlooks the valley in Argenton-sur-Creuse (Indre). As one turns around the sculpture, the inner and outer contours change to create a different silhouette. The intersecting curves create a volume with an inner space;an idea which can be found in a number of my sculptures.(exs.)..numbers 2,3,5,6,8,9....
This sculpture was realised in 1973 and is located deep within the ESSO refinery at Fos-sur Mer. I created the form of a wave to symbolize the importance of a new water purification plant in the refinery. It is perhaps the first monument conceived to affirm the effortsof Ecology in industry It is also unique by the complex wood formwork necessary to mold the concrete.
5.« Blue Blazes» Iron, 13 ft. 1994
I then made the decision to explore the south of France and to our surprise my wife and I soon found a place to live with a studio in Saint Rémy de Provence.
I began this oak wood sculpture in M ay 1969 when I arrived in Paris from the U.S.A.and finished it the next year at the Cité Internationale des Arts in Paris where I resided for over 2 years.
