"(…) Diversity is the word that describes his work (…) He (Daniel Szakonyi) makes use of the most varied materials (…)" "(…) Next to photos of his monumental sculptures which often take a number of years to complete, one will discover pieces of more modest dimensions : for example " aerial mobiles " made to play with", built like trees on wooden bases from which thin metallic rods branch out with at their tips small coloured pieces of glass. In total contrast of these cheery and playful creations, rough and rugged concrete structures impose their robust architecture, metal points sometimes sticking out of. Daniel Szakonyi has also been sculpting wood -from abstract to more allusive figurative forms-, his watercolours and oil paintings sometimes "à la manière " de abstract lyric painters whom he has admired since his youth, and sometimes in a more realistic landscape mode."
